And we're done with the appraisal!

Talk about fun!  Given that that house was missing carpet and didn't have any appliances or light fixtures there was a little concern that the appraisal wouldn't come through but we managed to make it all work out (we, being us, our realtors, and our lender guy Paul).  Our realtors went in and screwed plates over all the exposed electric wires, Paul found us a free dishwasher and hauled it and the shiny new stove I found over to the house and put them in the kitchen, and someone found a rug to cover the carpet holes.  I think (although I should probably double check with Paul to make sure this is true) that the appraisal is based on only the upper half of the house since the basement *technically* doesn't have flooring.  You'd think cement would count for something but apparently not.  Anyways, this would be good for us since we're hoping to re-appraise the house once we get it fixed up.

Next time we stop in at the house I plan to take pictures of the stove and dishwasher in place.  I think they look pretty good--which surprised me a little as they're black and I really didn't like the idea of black appliances.  What can I say, Seth talked me into it.  Turns out he was right and they look great. :)  He hasn't gotten a good look at them yet although we did stop by and peer in the windows the other day so he could get a glimpse of this stove I bought.

At the moment we're having fun looking at paint and carpet samples.  It's interesting to see all the variety and conflicting advise there is about such things.  Not to mention the battle between Seth and I over color.  He likes grey, brown, black, and white and *maybe* a slight tint of an actual color.  Maybe.  I like the idea of having something more colorful, maybe with a fun finish even.  I just don't like the idea of walls that are one of those in-between colors where you're not sure if it's brown or grey or green but something in that range.  We're working on finding a nice compromise but it may take some time to find it.  Any suggestions? :)

You can always use color for accents... whatever you do you both have to enjoy being surrounded by it:) When do you hear back on the appraisal? We are excited to come see you and your new house!
